The responsibilities of this position include:

• Manage and direct the production of specific project staff with the focus on the team's efficiency and goals for working to the project's scope, required level of detail, and project budget on a project-by-project basis.
• Design Mechanical / HVAC systems per client requirements and as directed by the Chief Engineer / Director. Primary trade responsibility will be as directed by the Chief Engineer / Director.

• Conduct load calculations, analysis, and energy modeling using programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, and/or Carrier HAP.
• Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget. Provide design review of engineering documents to execute the QA/QC requirements per CEG methods and standards.
• Perform engineering calculations, specifications, design, layout, and checking of mechanical and HVAC drawings, and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state, and local standards and codes.
• Provide direction to less experienced Engineers in Training and draftspersons when working together with them on projects.
• Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and provide field construction support and perform construction administration tasks, as required.
• Monitor and assist in the training and development of subordinate engineers as directed by the Chief Engineer / Director using the agreed-upon CEG methods and standards.
• Develop and/or assist in proposal development, client management and overall project execution.

Desired skills and experience:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering (preferred but not required)
• Minimum 12 years of progressive engineering and managerial experience with a strong record of accomplishment in managing and executing large, multi-faceted engineering projects.
• Experience in Energy Efficiency, Sustainability, and Design Build Construction is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
• An MBA or Other certification from an accredited group is preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable of local, state, and national code requirements.
• Must have deep knowledge of Mechanical / HVAC / Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
• Must have experience/working knowledge of load analysis and energy modeling programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR, and/or Carrier HAP.
• Strong working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Revit are a plus.
• Knowledge of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus.
• Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.

Concord Engineering Group is currently recruiting for a Commissioning Director to oversee the operations of the Concord Commissioning Group for the New York/North Jersey area (Metro). This position will be responsible for the business development and management of projects/staff, as well as personnel management, project execution, and project financial performance.

ESSENTIAL Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the NYC/Metro area Commissioning Office, including business development, office personnel, proposal generation, project execution, and job performance profitability.
• Be available as a working Director who can execute projects as needed.
• Be responsible for direction and development of the NYC/Metro Commissioning Business in conjunction with the Corporate Commissioning Department growth.
• Manage the implementation of standards and processes that are to be utilized to streamline and improve the delivered product to the client and promote ease of execution of the commissioning process so that efforts can be focused to provide the most value to the client.
• Manage project profitability and department billability including the balancing of personnel workload with Corporate Commissioning team.
• Business development in accordance with corporate-defined goals.
• Track project financial projections for office-assigned projects and business development activities.
• Conduct new client introduction meetings and attend project pre-bid meetings prior to proposal development.
• Be responsible for proposal development and fee estimation, to be reviewed by the SVP, Commissioning before bid submission.
• Consistently analyze the NYC/Metro Commissioning market and competition to better position the team for increasing market share.
• Be responsible for ensuring the latest industry technologies are available to the Commissioning personnel, including the required training for personnel.

NYC/Metro Personnel Management

• Be responsible to recruit, hire and retain new team members as the workload supports, with support from the Corporate Commissioning SVP.
• Provide technical direction to the NYC/Metro Commissioning Group as needed to ensure project execution and client relationships meet the department standards to foster long-term working relationships.
• Closely manage and oversee Commissioning Team field activities to ensure quality of work product and ensure the workload is adequately shared amongst the field personnel.
• Develop and maintain relationships with project contacts to develop additional business and/or develop on-going relationship.

MINIMUM Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, MBA or related Master's degree-preferred but not required)
• Commissioning Certification issued by AEE, BCA, ASHRAE or ACG
• Minimum 10 years of progressive managerial, engineering, or construction experience with a strong record of accomplishment in managing large multi-faceted projects requiring solid planning, control, review, and cost analysis.
• Construction and general contractor experience- preferred but not required
• MBA, P.E. or other certifications by Accredited Groups -preferred but not required

• Implement and maintain construction administration project controls, including shop drawings, RFI logs, etc.
• Prepare AIA contracts and proposal letters
• Assist with specifications editing and formatting
• Prepare transmittals
• Assist in technical, administrative tasks such as data entry, logging shop drawings and requests for information etc.
• Prepare and submit department billing review reports, invoicing, and expenses per accounting requirements
